Terms
Last updated . These terms apply from the moment you place an order.
Who you are dealing with
The Bath Aura, a business registered in India, selling handmade bath and body products made in India. Our registered name, address and registration number appear on every invoice we issue, and will appear here before launch. Every product states its country of origin — India — on the packaging and on the product page, as the E-Commerce Rules require.
Ordering
- An order is an offer to buy. It becomes a contract when we confirm dispatch, not when you click.
- We may decline an order. In practice this happens for two reasons: we do not have the stock, or the delivery address is one our couriers will not serve. If we decline, you are refunded in full, immediately, and we tell you why.
- If a price on this site is obviously wrong — a bar listed at ₹4 — we will not hold you to it and you should not hold us to it either. We will tell you and refund you rather than ship.
- You can cancel within two hours of us confirming your order — after that it is being made, and a poured bar cannot be un-poured. Tell us inside that window and it is done, with a full refund. The cancellation policy is here.
- To change an order, cancel it inside the two hours and place it again. We would rather say that plainly than imply a flexibility we do not have.
Prices and payment
- All prices are in Indian Rupees. The price you see is the price you pay.
- Everything is disclosed before you pay. Shipping, and the fact that COD costs nothing extra, is on the shipping page and at checkout. No fee appears at a later step. Drip pricing is prohibited under the CCPA Dark Patterns Guidelines, 2023, and we would find it embarrassing regardless.
- Nothing is added to your basket that you did not put there. No gift wrap, no samples, no donation, no insurance. Basket sneaking is also prohibited, and also embarrassing.
- The prepaid reduction is a flat ₹100, applied automatically. It is not a promotion and it does not expire.
- Payments are processed by Cashfree. We do not see or store your card details.
- An itemised invoice is issued with every order, by email at dispatch and on paper in the box. If you would like your GSTIN noted on it for your records, enter it at checkout — we cannot add it afterwards.
Delivery
We dispatch from Hyderabad within twenty-four to forty-eight hours of confirming your order, weekends and public holidays aside. After that the transit time depends on where you are and on which of the three rates you chose — three to ten days, broadly, and forty-eight hours inside Hyderabad. These are estimates given honestly, not promises: once a parcel is with a courier, its timing is not in our hands, and we are not going to pretend otherwise in a contract. Risk passes to you on delivery, and a signature is required. The full detail is here, including why we hold candle dispatch in the hot months.
Returns
Forty-eight hours from delivery, and here is exactly what it covers: something that arrived damaged, a fault in the making, or the wrong thing in the box. Opened bath and body cannot come back, on hygiene grounds — that is the rule everywhere and we are not going to pretend otherwise. Damage in transit is ours: photograph it, and we replace it at our cost without asking for the broken one back.
What forty-eight hours does not cover is changing your mind, and we would rather you knew that here than found out later. Nor does it cover a bar being a slightly different colour from the photograph — that is what handmade means, and the next section says so at more length. The full policy is one page and it is worth two minutes before you order rather than after.
Handmade variation
Colour, marbling and weight vary between batches, because the colour is the ingredient and the cutting is done by hand. Bars are 100 g ± 5 g. This variation is inherent to the process and is not a defect — no two bars are identical, and that is the point. We say it on every product page, twice on the returns page and once here, so it is a known characteristic of what you bought rather than a clause we produce afterwards. A bar that is genuinely the wrong formulation is a different matter, and we replace it at our cost.
What our products are, and are not
They are cosmetics. Soap cleans; a bath salt is a pleasant way to spend twenty minutes; a candle makes a room smell of something. None of it is a medicine, none of it treats a disease, and where we describe an ingredient — neem is antibacterial, papain loosens dead skin — we are describing what the ingredient does, not prescribing it for a condition. Patch test if your skin is reactive. If you react, stop, tell us, and we will refund it even though it is open. Every ingredient is listed with its INCI name on the ingredients page so that you or your doctor can check.
Using this site
- The words, photographs, illustrations and the logomark are ours. Please do not use them commercially without asking. Do ask, though — we usually say yes.
- Reviews are published only from verified orders, and we do not edit them beyond an obvious typo. If you write one, you are confirming it is your own experience. Fabricated reviews are a prohibited dark pattern, and posting one here would waste everyone’s afternoon.
- Do not break, scrape at volume, or overload the site. It is a small shop on a small server.
Liability
We are responsible for our products being what we said they are, and for the damage we cause. We are not responsible for what a courier does to a parcel after we have packed it well — beyond reshipping it at our cost, which we do without argument, so the distinction rarely matters to you.
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death, personal injury or fraud, and nothing here reduces your rights under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. If any clause here conflicts with that Act, the Act wins and the rest of this page stands.
Grievances
The Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 require us to name a Grievance Officer and to acknowledge a complaint within forty-eight hours and resolve it within a month. We will name one here, with a postal address, before launch. In practice, complaints come to thebathaura@gmail.com and are read the same working day by a person who can actually do something about them.
Changes, and the law that applies
We may update these terms. The version in force for your order is the one published when you placed it. We will not apply a change retroactively. Indian law governs, and the courts of our registered city have jurisdiction. That is subject, as always, to the consumer-forum rights that let you file where you live — which we are not going to try to contract away.
If a clause on this page reads as though it exists to protect us at your expense, tell us — we will either explain it or remove it. The privacy policy is the companion to this page and rather more interesting.
